Project Planning and Sourcing

Phase 1 ends when the customer has final CAD plans in hand. These plans are the reason our company name is Design First. You have everything you need to get your project started.

1. The CAD and "as built plans". Not only necessary for a successful project they are suitable for permitting, as required.

2. Accurate quotes from remodeling contractors & sub-contractors.

3. Estimating cabinetry, flooring, countertops and tile.

4. Appliances, and plumbing.

Since Phase 1 operates on a design retainer model, these plans and all information becomes the personal property of the customer to go forward with as they please. Our clients may be planning to pursue their own contractor or to do-it-yourself. To move forward on the project with Design First is Phase 2.

After the planning and design phase, the customer will be recommended to multiple companies that are qualified to complete to project. It is the final choice of the client to select whom they prefer to work with. The list of materials needed are part of Phase One and the customer can move forward with that information.

Design First does offer a service that is provided through contract, where we will monitor the project, communicate with the contractor(s) and maintain communication with the customer. We are essentially your liaison. This is an extremely valuable service that is additional to the original design contract fee.
